About Me

I became a Registered Nurse in 1981 and began my Nurse career in Critical Care at Conemaugh Valley Memorial Hospital and later Home Health Care through Community Nursing in Johnstown, PA. I went on to complete my BSN in Buffalo, NY and worked in Hospice Care at a free-standing Cancer Respite Center in southern Buffalo. I moved to State College, PA in 1987 and started my family. Although I enjoyed my work in Nursing and Hospice Care, my heart was to be a stay-at-home mom to raise my 5 children.

When my children suffered from allergies, asthma, coughs, and colds growing up and were finding no relief from traditional health care, I started to read more about alternative wellness and felt connected with what I was learning. I explored options to assist in alleviating my children’s symptoms, and found relief through Chiropractic care and chemical-free cleaning products. I also went through my own personal struggles with Hypothyroidism, which resulted in the need of thyroid medication (Armor Thyroid). My studies of the Thyroid and natural supplementation, plus my research into Bio-identical Hormone Replacement Therapy, led me to connect with a D.O. in 2003, who was not only a great medical Doctor, but one who incorporated alternative therapies into healing and my journey into using Bio-identical Hormone Replacement Therapy, a life-saving tool. My desire to learn and find healing tools in alternative therapies led me to continue my education in Massage Therapy, Young Living Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils soon becoming a Fully Certified Instructor of Essential Oils through C.A.R.E., become a Thermographer with Level II training, and a researcher into Far Infrared Biomat Therapy through Fuji Richway Int’l, Calcium bentonite clay products, Miracle II soaps, CBD and other Cannabinoid Products, Raindrop and Vibrational Raindrop Certifications, training for Certified Natural Health Professional (CNHP) from Trinity School of Natural Health, Functional Bloodwork studies and Methylation studies based on one's DNA.

In early 2012, while I was studying Animal Aromatherapy in Texas with Escent-Oil Balance, I was introduced to information about Thermography as an assessment tool and its potential for early detection of breast pathology. Learning about the variety of assessment and monitoring benefits, I went on to get my certification as a Clinical Thermographer in December 2012, in order to offer this valuable service to others. Having compassion for animals, I decided it wasn’t enough to offer Thermography to people, but trained in 2015 to become an Equine and Canine Thermographer, offering thermal imaging services to horses and dogs as well.

I have been studying essential oils since I started using them in 2003. My sister used them to alleviate tumoral symptoms in her dog, and through the diffusion of Frankincense, Lavender, and Cedarwood, SHE had an upper respiratory transformation from chronic mold exposure at work. My sister experienced a complete end to her 12 years of coughing and related upper respiratory symptoms within the first month of essential oil use. Since then, I have used therapeutic grade essential oils and have helped many others learn about their health through the use of Young Living Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils and Center for Aromatherapy Research and Education. After taking a C.A.R.E. class in 2008 on Bible Oils, Chemistry of Essential Oils Made Simple, Raindrop Technique, Vitaflex and Emotional Releasing with Essential Oils, I knew I wanted to be an Instructor one day. I am a Fully Certified CARE Instructor (2012) and travel to several states to teach. I earned my C.A.R.E. Supervisor Certification in 2014. As a Licensed Massage Therapist (2010), I've incorporated a variety of valuable body relaxation and balancing modalities into my sessions, but I specialize in techniques called Raindrop and Vibrational Raindrop. These are a favorite of mine because they are so powerful! These therapies help the body find its natural balance of detoxing, homeostasis and wellness.

Essence of Pure Living, LLC and Wholistic Thermography (formerly Your Thermal Imaging) were born of the desire to help others, where I focus on helping individuals balance mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually. Your Thermal Imaging became Wholistic Thermography in 2015 to accommodate our fur and hair-covered friends.

....getting lost in a book from my large collection of historical fiction, Biblical studies, biographies, and gardening.  I enjoy the beauty of the woods, the ocean, fresh air, and swimming. Getting my hands dirty planting and playing in my gardens helps me find relaxation and peacefulness.  I enjoy playing board games with my family, puzzles, and my Mahjong group. Being a grandmother now brings another whole realm of fun, joy, laughter, and passion to my life.

"At Wholistic Thermography in PA, our mission is to provide value to each of our clients by creating a comfortable and individualized experience. We are committed to excellence as we gain the insight needed to assist our clients in forward movement to wellness and healthcare strategies that are important for their healing. This Thermography business was founded in 2013 as Your Thermal Imaging by Sherry Cummings. As a Nurse & wellness advocate, she saw a missing link in the breast care industry and in the clear assessment of pain, inflammation, and early detection of many physiological conditions including breast cancer. She changed the name to Wholistic Thermography when she added equine and canine Thermal Imaging services in 2015. Her personal encouragement is that any woman, man, or child can have an affordable, concise and safe assessment with Thermal Imaging to aid their healing and care." -- Sherry Cummings Strayer
